Friends

Since being at Trinity, I have made a lot of close friends. They are all so beautiful, warm-hearted, caring, and generous. Without some of these girls I doubt I would have been able to make it through my first year here at Trinity. They have been completely supportive and encouraging of anything I wanted to try and this is the first time that I have had such a diverse group of friends. Sasha is one of my best friends here, she is smart and so talented, she can play the harp and fence, basically she is like a medieval woman. Roha is another one of my bestie's, she is the sweetest person I have ever met here. She is so giving and will do anything to make sure people are always happy. Evin, who is my roommate here is one of the most enthusiastic and sweetest girls I have ever met. She always looks out for me and is so generous with everything she owns and does. I have had a couple of breakdowns from the pressure of school, but these girls have always stood by me and helped me deal with the crisis when I was unable to help myself.

Alpha Chi Lambda <3

I decided to pledge a sorority this semester and it has been one of the best experiences of my freshman year. Before bid day, I was really nervous about whether I
would get into Alpha Chi because it is such a selectively small group of girls, none of the girls rushing were sure whether they would accept a big pledge class. The good thing about our pledge class is that they accepted nearly everyone that had been rushing them. Our pledge class was 18 girls big and consists of a wide variety of girls.
From hip-hop dancers, cheerleaders and orchestra players our PC has gone above and beyond on the diversity front. At first, I was skeptical about joining Alpha Chi because I had heard mixed reviews on their reputation, and I did not know all the girls in my PC. But as an active member now, I love that AX is so different and unique, because you will never meet the same girl twice. That was the main attraction for me in AX because I am very curious about other cultures and love meeting people with varied interests and backgrounds. In AX, I already feel like I have grown as a person because I have come to understand so many other personalities.
Bid day was so much fun and while the pledging process was tough at times, it was a lot of fun because it was the time I got to know my PC and really become sisters.

Fall Break '08

For Fall Break, I took my roommate, Evin and hallmate, Rachel back home with me to Austin. At the beginning of the semester, these girls were my two best friends and we did everything together. Our trip home kind of solidified our friendship. Rachel drove us to Austin, even though the ride was only an hour and a half we still managed to play 3 games and have a very in depth conversation about philosophy.

When we got to my house, my mom had already cooked us a full Indian meal. Rachel and Evin both love Indian food and specially requested certain dishes from my mom. For the rest of the night we simply ate her food, played Taboo, and hung out with my family. These were the first friends my parents got to meet from Trinity, and they both made such a good impression with their manners and constant praise of my mom's cooking.

We went and visited Mount Bonell, which is a beautiful mounting overlooking Lake Austin. We also went to Sixth Street that night to see Austin at its prime crazy time! The next day my mom treated us to lunch at my favorite restaurant on the lake. The unfortunately, we had to drive back to Trinity but vowed to visit my house again at least twice the school year, every year!

Tigerfest '08

Tigerfest aka Trinity's Homecoming is a time of coming together for the school because it is one of the only formal's Trinity has for the school aside from Greek Life. My roommate, Evin and I were rushing sororities at this time and a few of the Gamma's invited us over to hang out for a bit before the event. Evin and I got dolled up in black since the theme was black and white affair, and it was the first time I wore my new little black dress. We went to an older gamma's room and there were a few other rushees there and we talked and got to know each other better.
Trinity had buses that came back and forth to pick up students and we got on one of the early buses and we went to Sunset Station. The street it was on was a quaint little street that had the aura of a small town. There we danced the night away until about 12:30 am.

The drama started when we had to leave. The last bus left at 1 am so our group started heading towards the buses early but everyone seemed to have the same idea and it was nearly impossible to get a bus back. We tried to be agressive and get on a bus, but we could not get one. It was not until one of the girls with us got offered to get on the bus, she blocked the entrance and yelled for us to get on quickly. It was a crazy night, but one of the best nights at Trinity.

Clubbing Attempt #1

The girls from Calvert heading to The Loft!

Above Picture: Evin (roommate) and I getting ready

In your first semester, you usually hang out with the kids on your hall. One Saturday night, since we were still new to the party scene on campus, decided to go out for dinner and then go clubbing. We did not know of any clubs around and asked a few older people we knew and surfed the web. Little did we know how deceiving websites could be, we decided on The Loft; "A modern, up and coming version of the Hollywood Ivy."

When we got to the club, which was a good twenty minutes away, we walked up to the doors and saw only huge thugs walking in. We met a group of girls walking out of the club who suggested we don't go inside and just find another club because they thought it was a gang gathering inside.
As a group of Trinity girls, we were terrified and ended up just going to a lancer frat party instead. Although it was a waste of time and gas, we ended up having a good time altogether and can laugh at it now and say do not go The Loft!
